Michelle is a beauty therapist with a passion for interiors. She retails handpicked homeware and accessories that will add the finishing touch to your home.

The company was set up earlier this year, after friends and family continued to encourage Michelle to ‘go into interiors’. She now runs the venture alongside her beauty business.

As well as all her usual home décor, check out the latest seasonal range of products, which includes decorative Christmas candles, ornaments and home accessories.

Meet Jo, creator of Brownfish Designs. Fairly local to Holmfirth, living In Stocksbridge, she has always had a love for craft, art and design.
Jo loves to find unwanted treasure (or scrap metal!) and make her products from this. Consequently, no jewellery is ever the same. Due to her creativity her products are always changing so follow her on her social media channels to see any new creations!

For those that know the shops in Holmfirth, you will probably be familiar with this well-loved shop. But did you know that they have a “new look”? They have a huge selection of cards and gifts, but they also now offer a separate fashion and
accessories section. 

To make room for all the lovely new products on their ground floor they currently have a huge sale downstairs. 

Obviously due to lockdown, you can’t take advantage of it, but don’t panic…..the team are busily working behind the scenes to update their social media channels with lots of photos of their sale products and new stock, so that they can open a click and collect service!

Many of you who have had or have children will have seen Usborne books. Sophie is an independent organiser for Usborne books. She provides high quality and educational books that are both engaging and interactive for children of all ages, from new-borns upwards.

Usborne have books on so many things, we are all familiar with the “why” and “what if” questions that children ask us. If you are unsure of the answers, ask Sophie if there is a book on it by Usborne….. there may well be!

Helena founded the Proverbial Hare  in 2016.
She designs and makes many of the products herself or else they are locally sourced. 

In the shop you’ll find a small selection of prints, cards, tea towels, bags, aprons, cushions and a new selection of stationery. There are so many fun and quirky designs to choose from, you may want to keep some of those Christmas gifts for yourself.

In addition most images are available as bespoke commissioned pieces – personalized or simply resized as prints or cards to suit your purpose.

When Read. opened its doors in early 2019, Holmfirth gained a wonderful, independent bookstore which has been enjoyed not only by the local community, but also by Holmfirth’s many visitors, some of whom have become customers from a distance.

Louise and James Ashmore, who are ably supported by a wonderful team of staff with vast knowledge across a huge range of books, own this gem of a family bookstore. Books in all categories and genres are carefully chosen, from award-winning literary fiction to graphic novels and film titles, to a selection of books about the natural world, biographies and even books or maps for the many cyclists, which pass through Holmfirth.

Read. is not like many other bookshops, they are now an integral part of the community, working with schools, teachers and young people and hosting events (when allowed!)

Once again, undeterred by the lockdown earlier this year, once again Read. will take to the road delivering books across the community. THUD creative is a design studio with a focus on graphics and print, with over 16 years of design experience.

The inspiration behind THUD is THomas who creates Unique Designs, which are inspired by nature, which are available on a range of cards, accessories and apparel.

But THUD are not like every design studio; their ethos is based around social responsibility centring on animal welfare and protecting the environment. The design studio is run as green and ethically as possible; renewable energy is used, as well as materials being sourced from recycled and sustainable sources wherever possible
