Meet Katie, she is a mum to Isla, working part-time & sewing as a hobby in her spare time!

She started her business as her daughter was always super dribbly, this quickly changed into a passion for making clothes for her, and Ickle Pig’s Handmade was born

Katie makes unique handmade baby & children’s clothing, in a variety of fabrics which are made to order. Her beautiful products are for children aged 0-6 years. All of her baby & children’s clothing and accessories, are all lovingly prepared.

Imagine is owned and operated by Maggie, who jumped at the chance to take over at the end of 2018 and carry on the Imagine legacy. This fantastic quirky style shop in an old weavers cottage is certainly worth a visit, especially as we gear towards the winter months, but whilst we are “locked down” you can visit virtually!

Imagine sells a large range of toys and games for children of all ages, specialising in creative, educational and scientific toys.
However there are plenty of pocket money toys, trading cards and a wide range of practical jokes. New toys hit the shelves nearly every week, and many can be tried before purchase.

Brands stocked include Lego, Playmobil, Janod, Siku, Lanka Kade and Sylvanian Families as well as Bigjigs, AquaPlay, Great Gizmos and many more.
There really isn’t anything you won’t find.

Many locals would know that Nellie’s sell a range of personalised gifts and decorations, but they also sell a variety of high end wooden toys which can also be personalised.

Nichola and her team design and make many of their own products on their premises for lots of different events. For Christmas they produce luxury Christmas eve boxes, decorations, cards, treat boards and bunting.

Many of you who have had or have children will have seen Usborne books. Sophie is an independent organiser for Usborne books. She provides high quality and educational books that are both engaging and interactive for children of all ages, from new-borns upwards.
Usborne have books on so many things, we are all familiar with the “why” and “what if” questions that children ask us. If you are unsure of the answers, ask Sophie if there is a book on it by Usborne….. there may well be!

When Read. opened its doors in early 2019, Holmfirth gained a wonderful, independent bookstore which has been enjoyed not only by the local community, but also by Holmfirth’s many visitors, some of whom have become customers from a distance.

Louise and James Ashmore, who are ably supported by a wonderful team of staff with vast knowledge across a huge range of books, own this gem of a family bookstore. Books in all categories and genres are carefully chosen, from award-winning literary fiction to graphic novels and film titles, to a selection of books about the natural world, biographies and even books or maps for the many cyclists, which pass through Holmfirth.
Read. is not like many other bookshops, they are now an integral part of the community, working with schools, teachers and young people and hosting events (when allowed!)

Once again, undeterred by the lockdown earlier this year, once again Read. will take to the road delivering books across the community.
