Are there more Fish In the Sea?
Due to some of our little artists being on holiday and being such busy bees in the school holidays, we have had a couple of requests to extend the date of our “Under the Sea” children’s competition.
So as to give as many children as possible the chance to win one of our amazing prizes, we have decided to extend the closing date to 31st August at 4pm. We are hoping that this will then coincide with the re-opening of the Hall, which we are aiming to be 1st September. We’d love to see and share all of the entries when we re-open the Hall, so help us to fill as many of our windows with your children’s colourful sea-life creations.
Some of you may have seen our post from the end of last week with the details of the competition, but in case you missed it, here it is again.
The ‘Fish Tanks’ Are getting some much-needed attention!
A huge thank you to those of you who have already entered our ‘Under the Sea’ competition, raising urgent funds for Upperthong Village Hall’s window replacement project. Days like today remind us just how desperate this work is, as the ‘fish tank’ in one of our double-glazed panes fills dangerously close to capacity.
COVID 19 has hit the financial health of the Hall hard. As a valued community hub, the drive to save the Hall’s future has so much support, and we are incredible grateful to the local residents who have already donated upwards of £1200 through our donation page https://www.totalgiving.co.uk/appeal/fishtank
. However, to complete the full project, we are some £12,000 short, but we’re off the blocks! If you can spare any funds to secure the Hall before the winter hits, please visit our page and donate what you can. There is still time to enter the children’s Under the Sea competition too, and with some amazing prizes to be won, what’s stopping you? Get your kids on a creative mission and send us their sea world interpretation – the more unique the better! We love to see this incredible work. Entries are posted onto the windows of the Hall, a beautiful and colourful gallery to cheer up our tired old windows until they can be replaced.
